Meeting at a willow tree, 2020

An invitation and collaboration with artist Birthe Leemijer for the 'IJsselbiënnale' in 2020 – a biennial international outdoor art exhibition featuring temporary, monumental works by (inter)national artists along the IJssel River in the Netherlands.

Central to Birthe Leemeijer's contribution to the IJsselbiënnale (as it is to the Dutch landscape) was the willow tree. I chose to install one monumental photo of a willow. Its stem cracked open with age housing a unique ecosystem.
